We called in again at 5:50 AM. The nurse I talked to said that there was one room open for emergencies, but every other room was full and we should call back at noon. That's five delays in 18 hours. Little Pat is probably quite safe right where he is, but it's been over a week now since we last saw the doctor, and we are becoming concerned: what are the parameters for the best outcome for Pat? When will delays start to become a serious problem? Can we look forward to days of "Call back in 6 hours"? Is this a teapot tempest or something to get worked up about?
I guess we're a little freaked out that what we thought was going to be the one part of this whole process that had a little control over, we in fact have no control over at all. All we can do now is wait - and keep calling. We'll call again before noon, and keep at it until we are admitted. What else is there to do?

Hang in there, guys. I'll be thinking about you. The lack of control has got to be frustrating. BUT the safest place for him right now is probably where he is. Still, the wait is agonizing. I'll keep my fingers crossed that he comes out all safe and sound before the week-end, preferably sooner.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Linda. No risk in waiting! We were not induced with Wren even though he had to go straight to NICU too. They said to come in when I was in active labor - I got there after having labor all day at home and he was born 2 hours after I checked into Swedish.
ReplyDeleteI actually meant to ask whey they were inducing Pui and hope you can relax and enjoy him. I am sure he is a happy camper right now too.
Still, I totally get the stress. You thought you had a deadline!!! A date! An appointment! A bed! Perhaps its Pat's way of giving you a taste of being parents and out of control :)
Still thinking of you and wishing all those other laboring Mom's a quick homecoming.
Cheer up:D
