We've been in Seattle for one week now. It's been pretty bad weather, one storm after another. But the last two have been rain and wind, so the snow is pretty much all gone now. It was pretty, but inconvenient and tricky to drive in. But bad weather does mean that we have a good excuse to stay in and ... cook!
Below is Pui preparing some prawn. There is a great store here that has a lot of Asian imports, and we have made 3 visits already, with another one planned for tomorrow. We are going to make New Years Eve dinner for everyone, and will have to get the materials we need, so gosh darn it we're going to have to go back to the market. My parents celebrate the New Year at Greenwich Mean Time, which is 4 PM in Seattle. I think.
Besides cooking, we are spending time tying up loose ends in Bangkok from a distance, filling in paperwork, opening accounts, and generally doing everything we need to do when setting up a household in a different country when you have had only a few week's notice that you are going. Our son will never need to doubt that his parents will do anything to help him survive. I plan to use this story mercilessly when he's a sullen teenager.
